Kaspar Kundert is a freelance consultant, mostly for projects requiring GIS and has over 40 years of experience in the GIS sector. In 1992, he founded Esri Switzerland with an original staff of three. He then managed it for 18 years and grew it to a successful GIS company with a staff of 40.

Early in his career, Kaspar was a GIS consultant to UNEP in Kenya and Geneva, Switzerland, mapping and analyzing the consequences of sea level and the spread of East Coast Fever, a cattle disease common in Eastern Africa.

Since summer 2010, Kaspar has lived and worked in Kigali, Rwanda. He founded, managed and grew Esri Rwanda Ltd., until handing it over to his Rwandan colleagues in 2019. Working in Africa, he takes a special interest in advancing innovative mapping in support of sustainable development and managing data, making it open and turning it into useful information.

Kaspar Kundert has a Masters in Geography from the University of Zurich, Switzerland. He also represents Norway as Honorary Consul General to Rwanda.
